Detective Aloha iOS App
What the app collects
The app sends a small set of anonymous gameplay events to Google Analytics 4. These events are collected on-device by Firebase Analytics (the Google-owned mobile SDK that ships embedded in the app) and forwarded to a Google Analytics 4 property we own. We use this to understand which scenes are reached, which deductions are difficult, and where players stop. Events include things like scenes viewed, choices made, and endings reached. They contain only gameplay identifiers (such as a scene ID or choice ID) and never the contents of any personal information.
Two anonymous identifiers ride along with these events:
- Device ID — a random
UUID v4generated by the app on first launch and stored locally. It is not Apple’s advertising identifier (IDFA), not the identifier for vendors (IDFV), and it cannot be used to identify you personally. - Playthrough ID — a random identifier attached to a save slot so we can tell two playthroughs apart in aggregate stats.
Google Analytics also automatically records a session ID and standard mobile-app diagnostic information (device model, OS version, app version, approximate country). See Google’s Privacy Policy for details.
What the app does not collect
- No name, email address, phone number, or other personally identifying information.
- No access to your contacts, photos, microphone, camera, or precise location.
- No advertising identifiers, no ad networks, and no cross-app or cross-site tracking. Aside from the Firebase Analytics SDK described above (which forwards to Google Analytics 4), no third-party SDKs.
- We see only the StoreKit receipt that Apple returns during purchase validation; we do not maintain any purchase database of our own.
Save data
Your game progress — saves, settings, completed scenes, evidence collected — is stored locally on your device. It is never uploaded to our servers. Deleting the app or resetting progress in Settings removes this data from your device.
Push notifications
The app may ask permission to send push notifications. These are used only to nudge players back into the story; we do not use push for marketing or promotions. You can disable push notifications at any time in iOS Settings, and you can disable notification sounds in the app’s own Settings screen.
Third-party services
The site and app rely on the following third parties whose own privacy policies apply to information they receive:
App analytics: Firebase / Google Analytics 4
Firebase Analytics (Google LLC) — the mobile analytics SDK embedded in the iOS app. Collects anonymous product-interaction events (scene views, choices, endings) and an opaque per-install device identifier (the device_id). Forwards events to Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC), where we view aggregate reports. Firebase and Google Analytics 4 are both operated by Google LLC. We do not link these analytics to Google Ads, AdMob, Google Signals, or any other advertising product. Privacy policies: Firebase / Google.
Website analytics: Google Analytics 4 (gtag.js)
Loaded via gtag.js on this website for anonymous visitor analytics. Separate from the app's Firebase Analytics installation. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
Push notifications
Delivered through Apple Push Notification service.
Children’s privacy
Detective Aloha is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use reasonable measures to protect the limited information we do collect. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Links to other sites
The website and app may link to third-party sites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites and encourage you to review their privacy policies.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date and take effect when posted.
